Go-to-market for startups: focus beats reach
A great product without a clear path to customers stays a secret. Why the narrowest possible launch is often the smartest.
Many founders want to reach everyone at once. In my experience, the opposite works better: pick one segment, one channel and one message, and win there first.
A narrow focus makes everything easier. You learn faster, your marketing becomes sharper and early customers become references for the next segment.
A good go-to-market plan answers three questions: who exactly is the customer, where do they look for solutions and why should they choose you now?
When the first segment works, expanding is a matter of repeating what you have learned, not starting over.
